Parents Get Tattoos To Match Daughter's Birthmark That Covers Half Her Body
February 26, 2015
The parents of a little girl with a bright red birthmark that covers almost half of the right side of her body tattooed themselves with the same markings so she wouldn't feel alone.

Tanya Phillips (40), said the birthmark is a side effect of medical difficulties her daughter experienced after birth.
"She's struggled to breathe when she was first born and was rushed to the special care unit," Tanya told The Mirror. "When I went to see her she was just lying in a little incubator and that's when I saw it. It broke my heart."
"I just sobbed and sobbed knowing my baby was going to permanently marked for the rest of her life."
Tanya and her husband, Adam, decided right away that they wanted Honey-Rae to feel special - that her birthmark was something to feel proud of and not embarrassed by.
But when they went out in public, people stared and whispered. One instance in particular broke Tanya's heart.
That's when Tanya and Adam decided to go the extra mile to ensure their little girl didn't feel different.

"It was incredibly painful, especially as I had a flower to cover some old star tattoos, but it was worth every second of the pain," Tanya said.
"When the swelling went down, I showed Honey-Rae, and she gently touched it and smiled as she said 'Match,' pointing to her own leg," she added.
She now constantly touches her parents tattoos and then her own birthmark and giggles.
