A Whale Shows A Surfer How To Ride A Wave

A photographer captured this incredible video of a whale surfing in northern NSW.

Daniel Cook said he was using his drone off the Byron Bay coast to look for dolphins when he spotted a pair of minke whales.

One of the whales was hanging out in the middle of a group of surfers and seemed to be riding the waves with them.

"I've had a tonne of people get in contact with me regarding the footage, including the surfer whose wave the whale stole. He thought it was a Great White Shark that undercut him. What an experience!" Cook said.
