Farmer Plants 13-Acre Corn Maze To Propose To His Girlfriend

An Ohio farmer planted a 13-acre corn maze with a very special surprise — a marriage proposal for his girlfriend.

Circle S Farms in Franklin County revealed that their 2025 corn maze wasn’t just any maze — it was a heartfelt proposal crafted by one of their own farmers, Timothy Sullivan.

From the ground it was a mystery. From the sky it read loud and clear: “Will you marry me, Caroline?” — spelled out across 13 acres of corn for any passing plane to see.

Sullivan and a crew started planting with a tractor on June 3, and by late-June the message was visible from above.

Sullivan admits he was sweating the small stuff.

“I've been super nervous about other planes or helicopters flying over and possibly them seeing it or taking a picture. So, I felt like every time I opened up my Facebook, I cringed a little bit hoping that the image wouldn't be there and somebody hadn't ruined the surprise,” he said.

To make the big moment happen, he convinced Caroline to take a flight with him — under the innocent pretense that he was learning to fly. On the first pass, she didn’t spot the message. So Tim asked the pilot to circle one more time, the engagement ring safely tucked in his pocket.

Then she saw it.

“I was just like so amazed that somebody put that much effort in planning into a proposal like that and you know, I expected he would do something quite elaborate and intentional, but nothing to that extreme by any means,” she said.

She added the whole thing felt perfect for them: “It was only fitting that our proposal would happen with the cornfield.”

The couple is planning to tie the knot in early summer 2026.
