Christian Bale’s Foster Village To Keep Siblings Together Nears Completion

August 19, 2025

A long-time dream is about to become reality in Palmdale, California. Together California, the foster village co-founded by actor Christian Bale, is nearly complete—and soon it will welcome its first kids.

The $22 project was designed with one powerful goal: making sure brothers and sisters in foster care don’t have to be separated.

That’s a big deal — because studies show that more than half of foster children with siblings end up separated, and in some cases, the number can be as high as 80%. For children already facing the trauma of leaving their parents, losing their siblings too can be devastating.

“And so you imagine the trauma of that, you know? But added trauma to being taken from your parents, and then you lose your siblings, you know, that's just something that we shouldn't be doing,” Bale said in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning.

The project is huge in both size and heart. It includes 12 homes for families, 2 studio apartments for young adults transitioning out of foster care, and a 7,000-square-foot community center packed with resources—a learning lab, multipurpose rooms for activities, offices for case managers, and even a full kitchen for shared meals.

And it doesn’t stop there. Outdoor spaces are being thoughtfully designed too, from play areas for kids of all ages to peaceful spots for studying or reflecting. There’s even a citrus grove and garden to help kids connect with nature while learning about sustainability.

Architect firm AC Marin described it perfectly: “Together California: A Village for Brothers and Sisters is a visionary foster home project… committed to the cause of keeping siblings in foster care united and thriving together.”

The village is expected to open early next year, with trained foster parents ready to provide care for the children who move in.

Thanks to Christian Bale and his team, hundreds of kids will get to hold onto something priceless—the bond of family.
