The rescued dog, named Luna, was taken to Petworks Animal Services in Kingsport. The local shelter confirmed that Luna's owner had successfully reclaimed her after the harrowing ordeal.

"Luna is home safe with her family," Petworks Animal Service stated in a message to News Channel 11 in Tennessee.

They also conveyed Trooper Willis's heartfelt sentiment: "Trooper Willis said Friday that Luna's owner locating her was all he hoped for."
