Remembering Judge Frank Caprio: The World’s Kindest Judge
August 21, 2025
Today, we remember and honor Judge Frank Caprio, who passed away at the age of 88 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

@therealfrankcaprio
Known affectionately as “America’s Nicest Judge,” Judge Caprio spent nearly 40 years on the bench in Providence, where he turned everyday courtroom moments into lessons in humanity.
His show Caught in Providence brought the power of empathy and light-hearted justice into homes across the globe—amassing billions of video views and earning nearly 3 million YouTube subscribers.
Caprio’s gentle rulings—often dismissing minor infractions with humor and compassion—reminded us that justice can be rooted in grace as much as it is in law. He even reached out from his hospital bed shortly before his passing, asking friends and fans for prayers—his warmth never wavered.
@therealfrankcaprio As I continue this difficult battle, your prayers will lift my spirit. #judgefrankcaprio #neverforget #kindness #love

Rhode Island's governor called him a “true Rhode Island treasure,” and flags across the state fly at half-staff in his memory—testament to a life lived with heart, humility, and service.
Rest in peace, Judge Caprio. Thank you for showing us how kindness can truly define justice.
