A Case Of Cat Food
By a friend • September 9, 2024
I was walking to our local pharmacy and remembered I needed to buy a special type of canned cat food from the vet. It's my daughter's cat, she can't afford to pay for the expensive food. I had just talked her about it the day before. That I can't afford to keep paying $300 a month for his vet food.
When I entered the vet hospital, the vet assistant was helping another customer. She knew what kind of food I needed to buy and asked if I wanted a partial case or a full case. I decided on the full one. Just then another customer came in and went to the counter. I wasn't in a hurry, so I said go ahead and serve this gentleman. Meanwhile I'll go to the pharmacy. That will give you time to do your paperwork while I'm gone.
She said,"Thanks, that would be great!"
The gentleman said, "You should go first, you were here before me."
"No worries, you go right ahead. My pleasure," I said.
He jokingly replied, " Wow, how can I thank you!?"
Not really thinking, I blurted out, "You could buy me a case of cat food. Haha."
I giggled and left.
I returned 10 minutes later. I walked up to the counter, and the vet assistant was waiting with a huge grin.
"You don't owe anything! He bought your cat food for you!"
"What the?!" I was so surprised! " Did he know it costs $85 before he decided to buy it?"
"Yes! He asked first. I thanked him many times for you! I also asked him why he bought the food for you. He said, because you asked him too.! He said to pay it forward."
I've always been the kind of person who enjoys helping people or animals who are struggling.
Being the recipient was shocking and amazing.
