A Small Gesture That Made A Kid's Day At McDonald's

By Chris • July 1, 2015

This morning i went to Mcdonald's to get some breakfast, it was about 10:15 so right at the end of the time when you can buy breakfast stuff.

Young mother (with a toddler) in line in front of me asked if fries were available, the cashier said "they weren't available yet, not for another 15 mins" The young kid's face just dropped, and the cashier said, oh did you want fries sweetie? he gave this adorable little lower lip quivering nod. The cashier said "Ok, just a second."

She went out back, got fries and oil out of the fridge or storeroom or wherever they're kept, turned on the deep fryer, and made the little guy fries. And* she didn't charge the mother for them.

To me, things like that are just amazing - the small gestures that put a smile on peoples faces and make their day.

I know it's a JRR Tolkien quote but; "Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love."
