November 9, 2013
A funeral company's calls to honor a late war hero have been embraced by members of the military and general public after an RAF veteran died with no close friends or relatives.
Reddit user gildme came across the obituary for the World War II vet, Harold Jellicoe, and decided to share it online.
After only 4 hours, the post made it all the way to the front page of reddit. The comments on imgur, where the picture was originally uploaded, have made it clear that Harold's funeral service will be fully attended.

It's a 4 hour drive from where I live. As a member of the US Air Force, I'll be there.

I've just shared this on Facebook and sent to family members who are ex-RAF. It's being posted on RAF forums, and people are promising to go
Those involved with organizing the funeral service have been contacted by various veteran's groups and military supporters.
"We have already been contacted by military veterans who are intending to come, even though they have never met him," Matron Janet Wareing told theGuardian.com. "We've been told one group is looking to bring around 200 people to the service, which would be fantastic."
Comedian Jason Manford posted the image on Facebook and it was shared over 30,000 times within ten hours.
It's amazing what people can accomplish when they all work together for a good cause.
