Watch This Giant Fat Bear 'Cowboy Walk' Over For A Back Scratch
September 23, 2020
The only thing this bear's afraid of is a little exercise.
All jokes aside, this is a very large adult male (not a pregnant female) who is actually perfectly healthy. He has only become "seasonally obese" in preparation for hibernation.
"Fat bears are successful bears," says the video owner Mike Fitz. "They must eat a year's worth of food in six months or less to survive. The title of the video (Giant Fat Bear) highlights an aspect of this bear's success."
You will also notice his awkward wobble which is known as "cowboy walking". He can walk normally, but his stiff-legged gait is purposeful to display his size and dominance.
The bear, known as 747, was filmed at Brooks Falls and weighs approximately 1,400 pounds.
