A Chinese pharmaceutical company breeds six billion cockroaches a year in a facility surrounded by a moat. The roaches, which can eat up to 50 tons a day, are fed with food waste collected by restaurants.
Roaches are rich in protein and are used by the Chinese in medicine, cosmetics, livestock feed, and even fertilizer.
