Family Of Elephants Have Fun Un-Decorating Christmas Trees
December 4, 2021
The endangered Asian elephants at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in the UK have kicked off the holiday season by 'un-decorating' their Christmas trees.
"While many families are starting to put their trees up, keepers knew that our herd would have more fun pulling, shaking off, and even eating decorations," the zoo wrote.
"Although elephants' skin is thick, they love the feel of prickly branches when they rub up against them. They also love to sniff out their favorite treats, hidden inside the branches and retrieve them with their dexterous trunks, and when they're done with all that, the trees themselves are also an excellent snack!"
