I Thought He Was Giving Up On Life Until I Discovered He Has Lived With Wolves For Over 40 Years

January 27, 2014

A 79 year-old German man has been living with wolves for the past 40 years. The way they respect him and how they interact is unbelievable. This is Werner Freund.

Wolves are obviously a feared species.

Freund takes that belief and shatters it.

He is basically a member of the pack. There is mutual respect.

The wolves are playful when he's around.

The only reason he is alive: He is the alpha. He's in charge.

This wolfpack sanctuary is located in Merzig, inhabited by wolves from six different packs around the world.

He does everything with them.

Yes, everything!

Freund actually has to take the first bite of a kill to show he is the pack master. Then, and only then, can the others eat.
