Timothy Lyndsay Shaddock, 54, had set sail from the Mexican city of La Paz for French Polynesia in April.
A crew of a Mexican tuna boat spotted Shaddock about 1,200 miles from land. The crew gave him and his dog "Bella" medical attention, food and hydration.
Shaddock told Australia's 9News television that he and Bella had survived on raw fish and rainwater after a storm damaged his vessel and wiped out its electronics.
"I've been through a very difficult ordeal at sea, and I'm just needing rest and good food because I've been alone at sea a long time," he said. "Otherwise, I'm in very good health."
