89,000 Pets Find Forever Homes During 'Clear The Shelters' Adoption Drive

More than 88,000 animals now have a place to call home thanks to a joint effort by local news stations and hundreds of animal shelters across the country.

In the Tampa Bay area alone, 2,358 pets were adopted from 23 participating local animal shelters.
On August 18, the last day of the adoption drive, 854 adoptions happened in one day.

Clear the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption drive sponsored by NBC and Telemundo stations.
Since the initiative started in 2015, more than 243,000 animals have found their forever homes.
The campaign was so successful this year several of the participating shelters were literally left cleared.
