Man Visits Google Maps Pin Labeled 'Friendly Black Cat' And Finds Exactly What It Promised

Sometimes the internet delivers exactly what it promises.

That’s what happened when an Irish man named Noel Rock came across a curious listing while browsing Google Maps.

Pinned in a small park area along Cowper Road was a simple label that read: “friendly black cat.”

At first glance, it looked like the kind of random joke people sometimes leave on maps — the internet’s version of a playful Easter egg. After all, Google Maps allows users to add custom locations and points of interest, and unusual entries pop up from time to time.

But Rock’s curiosity got the best of him.

Instead of just laughing it off, he decided to walk over to the exact location marked on the map to see if there was any truth to it.

To his surprise, the listing was perfectly accurate.

Waiting right at the spot marked on the map was a black cat — and just as advertised, it was incredibly friendly.

Rock later shared photos of the unexpected encounter on X, clearly amused by how spot-on the listing turned out to be.

“Had spotted this wonderful Google Maps listing before…,” he wrote. “Can’t believe it was accurate to the metre 😂”

It turns out the cat appears to be a neighborhood regular that spends time in the park greeting passersby, happily accepting attention from anyone who stops by.

While many unusual Google Maps pins turn out to be jokes or pranks, this one turned into a wholesome little discovery — a reminder that sometimes the internet really does lead you somewhere delightful.
