It Looks Like Her 2-Year-Old Ruined Her Doll — But Then Mom Shows Why It’s Perfect

For 44-year-old Frith Zerfahs, hiding her birthmark with makeup was a part of life for 20 years.

Born with a port wine stain and growing up without representation, she felt the pressure to cover up — until motherhood changed everything.

After meeting her husband, Peter, and welcoming four children aged 10, 8, 5, and 2, Frith realized she didn’t want to hide anymore — not from them.

“Becoming a mother changed my attitude towards it,” she told SWNS. “I was putting make-up on and I realized I didn’t want to hide from him [her eldest son]. I stopped wearing make-up. I never wear make-up to cover up my birthmark. It feels so much better to not. Part of me felt like a fraud covering up. It’s freeing. I love my birthmark.”

Her story of self-love has struck a chord online.

A recent video she shared went viral after showing her 2-year-old daughter coloring on a baby doll. At first glance, it seemed like a playful mess — but then Frith revealed her own face, and it was clear: her daughter had been mimicking her, celebrating her unique birthmark.

It’s a reminder that acceptance and love often come full circle. By embracing her difference, Frith is not only inspiring others but also teaching her children that beauty comes in many forms — and that the courage to be yourself is worth celebrating.

Sometimes, the most meaningful lessons come from the littlest teachers.
