Neighborhood boys, 9 and 10, save infant with CPR
March 19, 2013
Susanna Rohm's 12 week-old baby may only be alive today because of two neighborhood boys who helped her perform CPR.
9-year-old Rocky Hurt and 10-year-old Ethan Wilson heard desperate screams for help while they were outside playing football together.
They both watched as Susanna attempted splashing water on the baby's face and performing CPR. Seeing that she was doing it wrong, they quickly stopped her.
"I told her to push on the baby's chest five to 10 times with only two fingers, tilt back the baby's head, plug the baby’s nose and breathe into the baby's mouth," Rocky told WXIA.
Within seconds, the baby started breathing. Paramedics arrived soon after taking the baby to the hospital where it would spend a couple nights recovering.
The two boys said they learned the proper technique for CPR from posters in their school cafeteria. Susanna had never met the boys before this day.
