Woman Sees A Trash Bag 'Walking' Down The Road, Rips It Open To Find A Puppy

Malissa Lewis hit some traffic on the way to work, so she took a shortcut through the remote back roads of Harlan, Kentucky. It was then and there that she made a startling discovery.

Malissa spotted a trash bag in the middle of the road.
"The closer I got, I realized it was moving," she told The Dodo.
It could have easily been an angry/dangerous animal, but that didn't stop Malissa from rescuing the helpless creature.
Inside was an adorable, grateful and incredibly lucky puppy.

Melissa shared the video on Facebook and wrote: "If this is your puppy, let me know. If you are the scoundrel who put it in a garbage bag and tossed it on the side of the road... you're a sicko."
Malissa took the puppy to the vet for shots and an examination. Miraculously, he was completely healthy! The vet said he couldn't be more than 8 weeks old.

Malissa decided to keep the puppy. She says her sons are absolutely in love with him.
Fittingly, they've named him Hefty.
"He is playful,” Malissa told LittleThings. "We were just talking about how resilient he was. He romps around playing with his new toys. He's good natured. Even the day that I brought him into the school where I work the day I found him, he was precious. The guidance counselor, Mrs. Kelly is a big animal lover, she took the pup to visit second grade and the kids loved him."
"He's going to be loved, and have a good home with us," Malissa said. "I'm just glad I was in the right place at the right time to save him. That's what it was."
