February 21, 2024
In an era where societal standards often dictate the norms of beauty and aging, legendary actress and model Christie Brinkley is defying all expectations.
Turning 70 is undoubtedly a milestone, but the selfies she recently shared on her special day have left everyone in awe, making it nearly impossible to believe she has reached the septuagenarian mark.
However, it wasn't just the captivating images that captivated her audience. Brinkley took to the virtual realm to share a deeper part of herself, revealing a beautiful poem that resonates with anyone on a journey towards self-love. In a society that often places unrealistic expectations on appearance, Brinkley's words serve as a powerful testament to embracing one's true self.
In her poem, she reflects on the journey of self-acceptance, expressing gratitude for the woman she has become.
This is what she wrote:
Looking in the mirror on my 70th Birthday and what do I see,
I'm finally happy with the person looking back back at me
I'm no longer critical and demanding
now I'm grateful and understanding
I've put this body thru it
I've broken every bone,
in tiny miracles I'm all healed
in my heart and soul I'm home
It's taken 70 years to get here,
in tears and joy I've found my happy,
so now I'm going to end this poem,
before I get too sappy!
Happy Birthday Indeed!
"A timeless ageless idol. Happy birthday and here's to the happiest years always in front of you!" singer Debbie Gibson commented on her post.
"You are an inspiration, a true icon and a ray of pure sunshine!! You make 70 look like 40!" another wrote.
Brinkley was discovered in 1973 by and American photographer in a post office in Paris. He took her first modeling pictures and introduced her to a modeling agency. Brinkley stated later: "I was basically a surfer girl from California. I never looked like a model." By the time she returned to California she was booked for three national ad campaigns.
Brinkley spent 25 years as the face of CoverGirl and has appeared on over 500 magazine covers. She landed her first acting role in the 1983 film National Lampoon's Vacation.
