Powerful Photo Of Last Veteran Of His WWII Battle Group Marching In Parade Alone
April 1, 2016
A photo of the last veteran of his WWII battle group marching alone in a Victory Day (Memorial Day) Parade is bringing the internet to tears. The Russian veteran is seen carrying a balloon and flowers, while wiping a tear from his eye.
In a similar photo from 2011, a WWII veteran sits on a bench as he waits for his comrades at Gorky park during Victory Day in Moscow. He's come to this place every year since WWII ended. This was the first year he was the only person from the unit.
And if you liked that second picture, this is a powerful painting of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial called "Reflections" by Lee Teter.
