Undercover Colors will enable women to "discreetly ensure her safety" by simply stirring her drink with her finger. If the polish changes color, the women will know "that something is wrong", the company explained.

The concept was created by students Tyler Confrey-Maloney, Stephen Gray, Ankesh Madan, and Tasso Von Windheim, from the Materials Science and Engineering Department at North Carolina State University.

The firm claims it is the "first fashion company empowering women to prevent sexual assault". Their next challenge is to develop the product so it is suitable to be sold commercially.
