Mayor of Newark, New Jersey invites Hurricane Sandy victims to his house
November 2, 2012
Hurricane Sandy swept through the East Coast of the United States leaving millions without power and causing mass destruction. New Jersey was one of the places hit the hardest.
The mayor of Newark, New Jersey, Cory Booker, decided to take it to the next level to help his fellow Americans. I mean, isn't that what politiicians are supposed to do---serve the public to the best of their ability?
He is doing just that. Using Twitter to reach his neighbors, Booker has been constantly posting updates on power outtages and even inviting people to come stay with him in a time of need.
People actually started showing up. At one point he tweeted that he was having lunch delivered for the dozen or so people currently at his house.
Hurricane Sandy caused a lot of devastation and people need someone like Booker to lead them. A man who will lead and look out for the people.
