Ingenious Raven Makes And Uses A Tool To Unclog A Tube
January 3, 2024
In the realm of avian intelligence, ravens have long held a reputation for their cleverness.
This clever raven not only identified a problem but also crafted a solution using a tool.
Faced with a blocked tube, this brilliant corvid embarks on a feat of problem-solving that will leave you in awe. It not only retrieves a stick but also adapts it by making modifications when it recognizes that the original size is incompatible.
In a recent study, ravens performed just as well as chimpanzees and orangutans across a broad array of tasks designed to measure intelligence. "We now have very strong evidence to say that, at least in the tasks we used, ravens are very similar to great apes," said Simone Pika, lead author of the study.
