Best known for playing Rajesh Koothrappali on all 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory, Kunal Nayyar has enjoyed enormous success on screen.

But it’s what he does off screen that’s quietly changing lives.

In a recent interview, the 44-year-old actor opened up about what financial stability has truly meant to him. After years on one of television’s biggest sitcoms, Nayyar says money hasn’t become a burden — it’s become a blessing.

“Money has given me greater freedom,” he explained. “And the greatest gift is the ability to give back, to change people’s lives.”

Alongside his wife, Neha Kapur, Nayyar helps fund university scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The couple also supports animal charities — especially close to their hearts as dog lovers.

But there’s one act of generosity he keeps especially personal.

Late at night, Nayyar says he sometimes scrolls through GoFundMe pages and pays off strangers’ medical bills.

“We also support animal charities because we love dogs. But what I really love to do is go on GoFundMe at night and just pay random families’ medical bills. That’s my masked vigilante thing!” He smiles, gently. “So, no, money doesn’t feel like a burden. It feels like a grace from the universe.”

No press releases.
No cameras.
Just quiet kindness.

And while he acknowledges that not everyone has the ability to give on that scale, he believes everyone can play a role in making the world brighter.

“Right now people are not happy because we are all expecting someone else to be kind,” he said. “We are expecting a president or a politician, some leader, to come and bring us world peace.”

But real change, he suggests, starts much smaller.

“There is no world peace if your neighbour comes to your door wanting some sugar for their tea, and you lock it against them.”

His message is simple — and timeless: “No one is going to come and change the world for you. You have to do it for yourself.”
