'A Christmas Miracle': Stranger Returns Lost Wallet To Couple's Doorstep
December 3, 2025
A Michigan couple is spreading some extra holiday cheer after a complete stranger went above and beyond to return a lost wallet — driving more than 20 miles out of her way to deliver it right to their front door.

Dave Hillyard and his girlfriend, Shelby Lukas, were among the huge crowd that packed into downtown Detroit for the city’s annual Christmas tree lighting last Friday. It was their first time experiencing the festive celebration, complete with a stop at a cozy pop-up bar in Campus Martius and plenty of holiday lights.
But the night took a stressful turn when Hillyard realized his wallet had vanished.
The couple retraced their steps, searched everywhere, and even headed back downtown the next morning convinced it had to be there somewhere. But with the bar closed and no wallet in sight, things weren’t looking good.
Then Shelby checked their Ring camera — and everything changed.
The footage showed a woman standing at their door late the night before… holding Dave’s wallet.
"It was his wallet in her hand. I'm like, 'Oh my God. It's in her hand. It's at home!'" Lukas told WXYZ.
Not only had the stranger found it, she had driven all the way from downtown Detroit to the couple’s home in Farmington Hills and tucked the wallet — cards, cash, everything untouched — safely into their mailbox.
The couple is now hoping to track down this mystery Good Samaritan so they can thank her in person and give her a gift for her kindness.
