'She's Fearless': Cheerleader Uses Makeup Mirror To Save Neighbor From Dog Attack

What started as a routine dog walk for Kristi Maxwell in Peachtree City, Georgia, turned into a terrifying ordeal — until a brave teenager stepped in with the most unexpected tool.

Maxwell had taken her dog, Maddie, out for a walk when two German shepherds suddenly approached. At first, she assumed the dogs were just curious. But when their circling turned aggressive, she realized she and Maddie were in serious danger.
17-year-old Saylor Ziegler, a cheerleader at McIntosh High School, was on her way to take an AP Psychology test when she saw the dogs circling Maxwell. She said instinct took over.
She reached into her trunk and pulled out the first thing she saw — a solid makeup mirror — and used it as her weapon to drive the dogs away.

Home security video later captured the chilling encounter: the shepherds closing in, Maxwell screaming for help, and Ziegler rushing to fight them off.
Maxwell spent the night in the hospital with injuries to her arms and head. She required stitches.
Through tears, Maxwell credited her young neighbor with saving not just her dog — but her life.
“I love her. I feel like she saved my dog’s life, but she saved my life too… I will always know her. She’s fearless,” Maxwell said.
