A Man Thanked the Voice of Mario for His Childhood. Charles Martinet’s Response Was Beautiful

For millions of people around the world, Mario is more than a video game character.

He is a childhood memory. He is the sound of Saturday mornings, family game nights, birthday presents and countless hours spent trying to rescue Princess Peach, collect coins and make it to the next level.

And for more than three decades, Charles Martinet was the voice behind that beloved character.

Recently, a man named Devin reached out to Martinet with a heartfelt message thanking him for being part of his childhood.

Devin told him about playing Mario games with his mom and the special memories they shared together.

Martinet could have simply replied with a quick "thank you."

Instead, he wrote back with a message that was far more meaningful.

"Hi Devin, Thank you so much for your very kind words. I thought of you playing Mario games with your mom and bonding over them is really fantastic!"

Then he offered something that felt less like a response from a famous voice actor and more like advice from someone who genuinely wanted another person to have a happy life.

"I think I'm just a guy that loves what I do, I am grateful for every day of it."

And then came the part that really stood out.

"And it's what I wish for everybody... I hope that you find what you love to do, pursue your happiness, your passions, and your dreams..."

Martinet went on to explain that he believes something as simple as pursuing your own happiness can have an impact far beyond yourself.

"I really believe when you were seeking your happiness, you find it... At least glimmers of it... And that brings glimmers of hope and happiness to others."

It's a beautiful thought.

Because that's exactly what Martinet's work has done for generations of people.

He found something he loved to do, poured his energy and joy into it, and in the process helped create happy memories for millions of people.
