Proud Father Stands Up For Daughter With Down Syndrome

A proud father has been inundated with positive messages from strangers after trolls mocked his daughter who has Down Syndrome.

Neil Markham, of Oxfordshire, tweeted a video clip of his 16-year-old daughter Ella dancing after an EPL soccer game between West Ham United and Tottenham.

But after the video was uploaded to Twitter, trolls began bombarding his account with abuse.
"This is the sort of ignorance that I have to put up with from time to time," Markham said. "My daughter sees the best in everyone even people like this. I'm very proud of her."
"What is wrong with people?? This girl would wish you nothing but happiness. Why do you need to be like this?" he replied to a Twitter user who has since deleted the account.
The good news is, his stand against these trolls has sparked a flood of messages in support of the father and his teenage daughter.



Markham said he's received more than 9,000 messages and now 99 percent of them are positive.
"I was rock bottom on Saturday night and I feel so much better now and it can only be a positive thing," Markham said.
