When Edna May's owner passed away, the woman caring for the owner's home was also caring for the cat.
"I was taking care of her in the owner's old house until the bank took possession, then I was forced to take her to the shelter. My lease won't allow more pets or I definitely would have taken her," she said.
Edna May was taken to Bucks County SPCA in Lahaska, Pennsylvania. The no-kill shelter posted a heartwarming photo of the senior cat being held by a volunteer on their Facebook page.
"Want to decrease your blood pressure by 10 points? Adopt 17-year-old Edna May and she'll pay you back with therapeutic cuddling and purring for hours on end! She is available now at the Bucks County SPCA in Lahaska," the shelter wrote.

"Love. That's the best caption for this picture (above) of 17-year-old Edna May on her adoption day," the shelter wrote. "A photo of Edna May snuggling with our volunteer reached more than 4,000 people on Facebook last month. One couple who saw it had just lost their 18-year-old cat. They really felt for Edna May being at the shelter and wanted to give her a cozy place to retire. Now she has the pleasure of two people to cuddle and all the comforts of a loving home!
A big thank you to our animal-loving community for spreading the word about Edna May. And very special thanks to her adopter heroes."
