Police officer in Texas gives this motorist a different kind of ticket

December 20, 2012

A motorist in Plano, Texas received an unusual ticket this week after being pulled over by a Texas police officer. In general, a ticket results in a fine for breaking the law. That is not the case in today's feel good news story.

Hayden Carlo was pulled over by a cop, who chooses to remain unnamed, for an expired registration. After a few minutes of conversation, Carlo explained to the officer that times were hard and he could not afford to get his registration renewed.

"I said it was either feed my kids, or get this registration done," Carlo told the local news reporters.

The officer went back to his squad car and filled out a routine ticket for Carlo. He also slipped something inside the folded ticket before handing it over.

"I opened it up and there's a 100 dollar bill. I broke down in my car -- what else could I do?," Carlo told WTVR.

Although the officer is remaining anonymous, his Texas law enforcement buddies did tell CBS a little about him.

"As he told me, this man needed it more than him, and it was the right thing to do," fellow officer and department spokesperson David Tilley told CBS.

Hopefully this story will help restore your faith in humanity, and convince you to do what you can to help others who might have it worse than you do. This Texas law man is an inspiration to us all.
