An Elderly Woman Dials The Wrong Number After Falling. The Stranger Shows Up To Rescue Her
August 2, 2016
A family is grateful for a quick-thinking car salesman who rushed to help a grandmother after she suffered a fall and called his dealership by mistake.
Dang Vuong, car sales manager at Stratstone BMW in Newcastle, England, was having an ordinary Sunday morning at work, until he got a phone call from a distressed woman, who had misdialed while trying to call her daughter for help, after slipping while running a bath.
Though the call wasn’t meant for him, Dang didn’t think twice about hurrying to help her.
He said: "She called our landline and got through to our receptionist, who asked me what to do.
"I said, I'll go and make sure she's ok — at first I thought she was just across the road, it turned out she was about two miles away.
"I drove over there while our receptionist kept her talking on the phone."
Dang got to the house, knocked on the door, noticed it was unlocked and - with no time to lose - went into the house.
He said: "When I arrived, she was in shock more than anything, there was blood on her face and the bath was overflowing. I told her who I was and then scooped her up and put her on the sofa and covered her with a blanket and waited until her carers and family came."
After making sure that she was safe and with family, Dang headed straight back to work, where he said he had a fairly busy day at the BMW dealership — though he wasn't called to any more dramatic rescues.
Sara Tweedy, whose grandmother Dang came to the rescue of, said that without the salesman's intervention, it would have been a couple of hours at least before anyone arrived home.
She added: "We can't thank him enough."
