The close call occurred when Pirates outfielder Danny Ortiz swung and missed in a spring training game in Brandenton, Florida. Ortiz lost control of the bat, sending it hurling toward the stands.
Dad stuck out his left arm just in time and deflected it to save his son - who was distracted by his phone - from a face full of stitches.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the incident, and this serves as a reminder to always keep your eye on the ball - or bat!
