On Dec. 15, we were having lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. There was a table of six service members in uniform at a table adjacent to us.

When we were wrapping up our meal, my wife pulled out her credit card and told the server she wanted to pay the bill for all six. The server was surprised and confirmed that she wished to pay for the entire table, which she did.

The server asked her if she wanted to reveal who the generous person was while we were still present. She said, "It's up to you."

The server did tell them. They were shocked and grateful, each of them thanking my wife again as they left.

This was a lovely Chrismastime gesture for a group that is worthy of our everlasting gratitude and admiration!
