These Baby Photos Suggest Messi Transferred His Powers To Prodigy Lamine Yamal

July 9, 2024

We all knew Lionel Messi had a special touch, but this is incredible.

Recently, photos surfaced of Messi with Spain's prodigy, 16-year-old Lamine Yamal, sparking a wave of excitement and speculation among soccer fans.

The long-forgotten photo from 2007 resurfaced after Yamal’s father posted it on Instagram last week with the caption: “The beginning of two legends.”

The photoshoot took place in the locker room at Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium in the autumn of 2007, when Lamine Yamal was just a few months old. Barcelona players posed with children and their families for a calendar as part of an annual charity drive by the local newspaper Diario Sport and Unicef.

It just so happened that Messi was paired with Lamine Yamal.

At the time, Messi was 20 years old and already considered a significant talent. Years later, he would be widely regarded as one of the greatest to ever play the game.

Like Messi, Lamine Yamal has gone through Barcelona’s famed youth academy, La Masia, and despite his young age, he has been one of Spain’s standout players at Euro 2024.

Many soccer fans have humorously speculated that Messi "transferred some of his powers to Lamine Yamal" during that fateful encounter. The old photos have fueled the legend, suggesting a magical passing of the torch from one generation to the next.

Stay tuned as we watch Lamine Yamal's career unfold. Could he be the next great legend to emerge from Barcelona’s storied academy? If these photos are any indication, we might just be witnessing the beginning of another extraordinary journey.
