Okay, so why did the police arrest a bird?

According to the Utrecht Police Department, the suspect had brought his bird with him and it was sitting on his shoulder when he was stopped by the arresting officers.

"Hi, this bird sat on the shoulder of a thief we arrested for shoplifting," the department wrote in an Instagram post. "As we don 't have a birdcage, this bird had no other place to stay than in the cell."

They added, "The bird has not been questioned and is as far as we know not guilty of any charges."

This lighthearted approach to the incident has sparked laughter and intrigue among the public, turning what could have been a mundane news story into a quirky and memorable event.
