Random Acts Of Kindness At Grocery Store
By Gerri • April 15, 2013
I am a 94-year-old woman. I had concluded checking out groceries at our local neighborhood market, and putting the bags in my shopping cart. I turned to slide my credit card and saw the woman who was next in line, sliding her card into the machine. The cashier was telling her that the purchase entries were not her order. But the customer said she wanted to pay for my groceries, and concluded her mission at the machine.
Being totally in awe, I asked, "What is this – is it Christmas? Do you know me?"
She smiled and said, "No, I just want to do this."
Not wanting to draw attention to the scene unfolding, I thanked her graciously, extended my hand for a shake, and told her my name. She replied, "Mine is Gerri – glad to meet you."
I went on my way, still in disbelief of what had just transpired.
Thank you again and God bless you.
