Pizza Hut Offers Job Back To Manager Who Refused To Open On Thanksgiving
November 29, 2013
Pizza Hut's corporate office stepped in and made things right after Tony Rohr was fired for refusing to open his store on Thanksgiving day.
Rohr is the manager at a Pizza Hut franchise in Elkhart, Indiana. Although most franchises are closed on Thanksgiving, this particular store was to remain open.
"I said, 'Why can't we be the company that stands up and says we care about your employees and you can have the day off?'" Rohr told WSBT. "Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only two days that they're closed in the whole year. And they're the only two days that those people are guaranteed to have off to spend with their families."
After learning about the local store's decision to fire Rohr, Pizza Hut's corporate office stepped in and insisted the local franchise offer him his job back, to which they complied.
