Waiter Receives $25,000 Tip From Total Stranger To Get A New, Confident Smile

March 10, 2015

A waiter at the Doo-Dah Diner in Wichita, Kansas, received the tip of a lifetime from a complete stranger who just happened to stop in while in the area visiting his daughter.

This is Brian Maixner, and there's a reason he smiles with his lips closed.

Maixner has struggled with serious dental problems for years. He was missing teeth and many of the ones he did have were infected. That all changed when attorney Fred Boettcher sat down at his table, who suffered from similar dental problems in the past.

Before he finished his meal, Boettcher (pictured below) went to the diner's manager, Timirie Shibley, and asked if he could tip $25,000 on top of his meal to ensure Maixner could get a new smile.

"He said he could tell Brian was a very special person and he wanted to know if Brian would be offended if he offered to pay for his dental issues," Shibley told Today. "Needless to say, I was floored. I immediately accepted on Brian's behalf."

The surgery has made a world of difference in Maixner's confidence.

It's hard to believe this is the same person.

In an interview with a local news station, Boettcher said: "No matter what religion you might be or whether you even believe in an afterlife, the way to be satisfied in your life is to be kind to everybody and be as generous as you possibly can be."
