Firefighter Administers CPR On A Baby While Descending Down The Ladder

November 2, 2017

In May 2002 on Hebble Ave. in Fairborn, Ohio, firefighter Bob Swick climbed headfirst into a burning home to rescue a baby who was trapped inside.

While the child's mom was screaming from the driveway, Swick searched the smoke-filled home for baby Chelsea.

It seemed too long, so Swick's colleague Scott Lewis rushed up the ladder. Right at that moment, Swick burst free from the smoke and passed off the lifeless baby to Lewis.

Lewis immediately ripped off his mask and immediately began to administer CPR as he climbed backward down the ladder.

Baby Chelsea was released from the hospital one week later.
