Two Humpback Whales Create Mesmerizing Fibonacci Spiral
January 10, 2024
A pair of humpback whales in Antarctic waters have showcased a stunning example of the Fibonacci spiral in the natural world - all while gracefully preparing for dinner.
The display is part of a complex feeding technique called bubble-net feeding, in which the whales blow bubbles from their nose to encircle and trap their prey.
Nature photographer Piet van den Bemd captured the mesmerizing scene with a drone.
