A Simple Act Of Kindness Warms The Heart Of A Woman Battling Parkinson's
October 17, 2024
Today's good news story comes from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Liz Marshall, affectionately known as “The Butterfly Lady,” has been spreading joy in her Oklahoma community for years through her delicate butterfly creations.
Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 30 years ago, Liz lost the use of her hands a decade ago, but in an incredible turn of events, her butterfly crafting helped her regain strength and mobility in her hands.

“I couldn’t dress or feed myself, but working with paper slowly brought my hands back to life,” Liz shared with KFOR. Now, she gives her handmade butterflies to others, hoping to lift their spirits as hers were lifted.
Recently, Liz experienced a touching moment of kindness that made her own heart soar. While sitting on her porch, Waste Management driver Terrance Davis noticed her sitting on her scooter and decided to go above and beyond his duties.
Without a second thought, Terrance carried Liz's trash cans back up her driveway, asking where she wanted them placed.
“I knew he was busy on his route, but he stopped anyway to help,” Liz said. “Our lives aren’t about our walk; they’re about making someone else’s walk a little easier. He left an impression on my heart.”

Moved by his kindness, Liz nominated Terrance for the local Pay It 4Ward award, and he was surprised with a $400 cash prize on KFOR News. His small gesture not only lightened Liz’s day but also inspired many others to show kindness whenever they can.
"It’s the little things in life that really matter,” Liz said.
