The incident unfolded when a car, with an unconscious driver inside, plunged into a river. As the vehicle began to drift and sink, 53-year-old retired soldier Jiao Dayin sprang into action. Without a moment's hesitation, Jiao leapt into the water, swimming towards the sinking car. He managed to climb on top of the vehicle and immediately began efforts to break a window, determined to save the driver trapped inside.

Jiao's courageous actions did not go unnoticed. Another onlooker, Wang Yihui, quickly joined him. Wang also climbed onto the vehicle, working alongside Jiao to free the unconscious driver. Their combined efforts paid off when they successfully broke a window and pulled the driver to safety.

The dramatic rescue was met with cheers and applause from those who had gathered on the riverbanks. Videos of the incident show the intense and dangerous conditions under which Jiao and Wang operated.
