Adopted Teen Is Helping Senior Dogs Find Loving Homes, Just Like She Did
August 4, 2020
An adopted 14-year-old girl in California has raised $14,000 to help older dogs find forever homes.

Meena Kumar / Pet Fairy Services
At just nine months old, Meena Kumar was found in a basket on a college campus in Pune, India. After spending a year in an orphanage, she was adopted by a couple in Mumbai who now resides in California.
Over the past five years, Meena has spent almost every weekend visiting animal shelters -- primarily Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco.
Muttville is a cage-free dog rescue that gives senior dogs a "second chance at life".
Meena understood what it felt like to be left behind, and wanted to help these older dogs find the forever homes they deserve, just like she did.
But since Meena was too young to volunteer at the rescue, she decided to start her own business with the goal of donating all of the money earned to the shelter.
She began offering pet sitting and just like that, Pet Fairy Services was born.
"I donate all the money raised through this service to Muttville," Meena said. "I strongly feel that these senior dogs deserve to live out their lives in dignity and comfort."
So far, Meena has raised $7,000 for Muttville. That number doubled to $14,000, thanks to a matching donation program with Intel, where her father works.
"Thanks to all the people who trusted their beloved pets to my care, I have donated $7000 to Muttville so far. Thanks to Corporate Match from Intel Corp, that amount has been doubled," Meena wrote on her website.
Meena hopes her story will encourage more people to adopt older dogs.
"More people should adopt senior dogs," Meena told CNN. "They give you the same unconditional love as any other dog."
