Neighborhoods Across The Country Are Building Miniature Pantries To Help Those In Need
June 25, 2019
Inspired by the book-sharing movement, Little Free Library, neighborhoods across the country are now helping those in need with a similar idea: Little Free Pantry.
Santa Cruz, CA
"Take what you need, leave what you can."
Neighborhoods are building these miniature food pantries to give back and help those in need. They are stocked by the community.
In general, non-perishable foods or items are appreciated, such as: canned foods with ring-pulls, sealed crackers and snacks, bottled water, socks, toilet tissue, hand soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, baby wipes and any toiletries.
Springdale, AZ
A family in Boise, Idaho, recently celebrated their son's third birthday by building a Little Free Pantry and asked party guests to bring canned goods as gifts.
Oshkock, WI
"Birthdays are a time of giving, and we don't need that much stuff. We don't need the amount of gifts that we get, so we were trying to find ways to direct the kindness to where it was more needed," Macy Miller told KTVB. "This year Miles wanted to build something. So that's what we did for his third birthday."
Mineral Ridge, OH
"We find near the end of the month, it's nearly always empty. It's helping people and that's great, we've never once had it taken advantage of. We just choose to trust people," she said.
Hardwick, GA
