Video Shows Milwaukee Bus Driver Rescue Young Child
January 12, 2019
An alert Milwaukee bus driver rescued a young child found wandering barefoot on a freeway overpass in the freezing cold – and it was all caught on video.
Irena Ivic spotted the little boy and immediately stopped her bus, ran across the street, and brought the crying child onto the bus.
"I'm just grateful I was in the right place at the right time," Ivic said at a ceremony held in her honor on Thursday.
The 19-month-old had been cold and frightened but was otherwise okay, police said.
Police said the child had been left outside by his mother, who may have been suffering from a mental health crisis. Authorities eventually reunited the baby with his father.
