Customers Buy Out Donut Shop Early Every Day So Owner Can Be With Ailing Wife
November 5, 2018
Customers are buying doughnuts by the dozen to help the owner close up early so he can leave and spend time with his ailing wife.

John Chhan, owner of Donut City
John Chhan and his wife Stella have greeted customers at Donut City in Seal Beach, California, every day for the last 30 years. But last month, Stella suffered a brain aneurysm. She's recovering in a nursing facility.
John rushes home every day to be with her as soon as the shop sells out of doughnuts.
The community initially offered to set up a GoFundMe account for the couple, but John declined the offer saying he simply wants to spend more time with his wife. So, customers have endeavored to help Donut City sell out early every day so he can return to the rehabilitation center where she is recovering.
They're asking for everyone buying doughnuts to buy a dozen at a time.
