$5 And Some Kind Words

By Amy • December 22, 2023

I was on the bus and a young boy got on and told the driver that he didn't have a Go Card or money for a ticket.

The boy was probably only about 13 years old.

The driver must have said something to him about why his parents hadn't given him money for the bus. The boy said he couldn't ask his parents because he was in care, so the driver told him to get on and the boy said thank you.

An older lady overheard and beckoned him over and gave him $5. When she got off the bus she told him to take care of himself.

I was touched by the fact that she went out of her way to give the boy $5 and some kind words.
