This is the Hourglass Dolphin - a rarely seen species of dolphin that inhabits Antarctic and subantarctic waters.

Scientists don't know much about these dolphins.

By 1960, despite decades of whaling in the Southern Ocean, only three specimens had been recovered. As of 2010, only 6 complete specimens had been examined.

This one was spotted at sea between the Falkland Islands and South Georgia.

One thing is for sure: the hourglass dolphin is one of the most majestic and awe inspiring creatures I've ever seen.
