Mom Shares 4th Grader's Spelling Test Answers, #13 Has Everyone Laughing
November 18, 2025
A recent elementary school spelling test has captured the attention of thousands online, offering a heartwarming reminder of the value of creative thinking in education.
Tara Heshka, an Ontario parent, shared an image on Threads of her 9-year-old daughter Elliot’s spelling test from October 20. Elliot demonstrated strong proficiency, successfully navigating challenging words such as brought, receipt, doubt, and February.
However, it was the response to word number 13 that truly stood out.

Rather than simply writing the word once, Elliot chose an illustrative approach. She wrote the word "echo" repeatedly, with each iteration progressively smaller, visually representing the sound effect fading into the distance.
Tara told Newsweek, "She brought three home and, since she usually gets the words all right, I just skim them and put them aside, but number 13 popped out right away, and I laughed and thought, 'This kid'."
The post has garnered over 30,000 likes and hundreds of shares, prompting a response from Tara.
"My daughter thanks you all for the lovely comments! She is very excited to be so 'famous' today!" she commented.
